Join Me in the Race Against Childhood Cancer!

It's Time to Fly!

Every school day, 46 kids are diagnosed with cancer. That’s more than the size of two classrooms. I think one child diagnosed with cancer is one child too many.

My daughter Sierra was diagnosed with Undifferenciated Soft Tissue Sarcoma on September 19th 2006. She was 16 years old. What started as a small lump in her right thigh, turned into a devastating diagnosis. Sierra endured many rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. She also had a total of 4 surgeries. This did not stop the progression of this very aggressive, high grade tumor. Sierra passed away at home on August 24th 2007 at the age of 17.

I joined Time to Fly the following year as a solo runner. In 2009 I created my team "Remembering Sierra". I run the 10k in memory of my daughter. I also run in honor of my nephew Cailen Andrews. Cailen is a Leukemia survivor. Cailen was diagnosed at the age of 7. He is 18 years old today and living a healthy normal life. Cailen graduated from high school and plans on attending the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the fall of this year.

This is why I run. This is why I am joining the race against childhood cancer by participating in Time to Fly at Phalen Park in St. Paul, Minnesota on September 9th.  The funds I raise will support Children's Cancer Research Fund and leading-edge research that will lead to better treatments and ultimately, life-saving cures for children.

And you can help me reach the finish line by making a donation or joining me on race day.

**Together, we can help doctor’s say “we have an idea” when other doctor’s say “There’s nothing else we can do.”

**Together, we’ve already helped researchers make progress toward improving Hodgkin lymphoma treatment, creating better drugs for graft v. host disease, bettering leukemia therapies and much more.

**Together, we can create a world free of childhood cancer.

Whatever you can give will help - it all adds up.  It all makes a difference. Thank you for supporting life-saving research and the families and children who battle cancer daily.
