Join us in the race against childhood cancer!

It's Time to Fly!

Hello family and friends,

Katie and I are excited to once again join the race against childhood cancer by participating in the 5k "Time to Fly" run with a favorite charity of ours, Children's Cancer Research Fund (CCRF).  This year's race is being held on Saturday, September 9 at Phalen Park in St. Paul, with all proceeds benefitting CCRF and its mission to fight childhood cancer.

Our team - We Are United - is comprised of our family, friends, neighbors and co-workers from UnitedHealth Group and Children's Hospital and will be representing and proudly supporting the efforts of CCRF.  Our team slogan this year is once again "We are United......in the fight against childhood cancer".

We would love to have you on the team and join us in the 5K race on Saturday, Sept 9 (there is also a 5K walk, a 10K run and a kids' "Fun Run"....you can pick your own flavor).  There is a link to the right that will bring you to the team site and will allow you to join our team.  We are looking to build a big team this year, so please consider joining us!

If you can't make it, please consider supporting the team, and more importantly the research funded by CCRF, through a tax deductible donation to help us eradicate childhood cancer.  Together, our support can help bring life-saving treatments to the nearly 13,000 kids that will be diagnosed with this deadly disease this year.

What is CCRF and its mission?  Children’s Cancer Research Fund provides critical funding to the University of Minnesota Masonic Cancer Center for new cancer research and training related to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure of childhood cancers and blood-related disorders.  The CCRF team and their research partners have revolutionized the way childhood cancer is treated worldwide, with their investments in key research initiatives and patient care leading to innovative treatments, faster cures, new discoveries and compassionate quality-of-life programs that give hope to pediatric patients and their families.  I was introduced to CCRF in 2012 and was so impressed with their passionate work and successes that I joined their board of directors in order to increase my involvement and contributions to the cause.

And you can help me reach the finish line by making a donation or joining me on race day.

**Together, we can help doctors say “we have an idea” when other doctors say “There’s nothing else we can do.”

**Together, we’ve already helped researchers make progress toward improving Hodgkin lymphoma treatment, creating better drugs for graft v. host disease, bettering leukemia therapies and much more.

**Together, we can create a world free of childhood cancer.

Whatever you can give will help - it all adds up.  Thank you for supporting life-saving research and the families and children who battle cancer daily.
