Time to Fly 2017

Team Tutu

Let’s Raise. Walk. Cure.

We're raising funds for childhood cancer research by participating in an event called Time to Fly, and we need your support.

Did you know only 4 percent of federal cancer funding dollars go to childhood cancer research? That’s not a lot considering 42 children are still diagnosed with cancer every day in the U.S. Not to mention that some chemotherapies for childhood cancers are 40-50 years old.

Childhood cancer survival rates have risen dramatically since the early 1900s, but some childhood cancers still have dismal outcomes. Current treatments can even cause secondary cancers.

Research advances are critical for survival, and I need your support now so that safer treatments and a cure can be created. For every $1 given to Children’s Cancer Research Fund, researchers can secure an extra $18 in government grants and other funding.

Whatever you can give will help - it all adds up.Thank you for supporting life-saving research happening at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital and the families and children who battle cancer daily.

Time to Fly for Peyton Nadine!

We are participating in honor of my daughter, Peyton.  She was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma October 6th, 2011, just a month before her 3rd birthday.  Peyton was treated at Amplatz Hopsital - Minneapolis MN and has been cancer free since Nov 11th, 2011.

Peyton's journey included one round of intra-arterial chemo, one failed attempt of intra-arterial chemo, emergency room visits, multiple EUA's, couple UTI's, RB1 Gene Mosaic Mutation diagnosis, Grade 2 Kidney Reflux diagnosis, multiple overnight hospital stays, and an emergency visit to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Ronald McDonald House in NY.  Thanks to The Children's Cancer Research Fund our family was able to fly to NY to get the best care possible in hopes to save her eye.  Unfortuanately her tumor was classified too large to be able to save the eye.  Peyton lost her left eye to Retinoblastoma on November 11th, 2011.

This will be our 6th year walking in Time To Fly!  September 9th, 2017 I will be joining the walk against childhood cancer by participating in Time to Fly at Phalen Park in St. Paul, Minnesota, which benefits Children's Cancer Research Fund.
